FASTEST Dark Ages Coin Farm in Diablo 4

The Fastest Way to Farm Dark Ages Currency in Diablo IV

If you’re still grinding through the current season of Diablo IV and trying to collect enough Dark Cage currency for cosmetics, you’re probably wondering what the fastest farming method is right now. After testing several activities throughout the season, one approach stands out clearly above the rest: Bloody Nightmare Dungeons.

At this stage of the season, the goal for many players is no longer pushing endgame progression or experimenting with builds. For a lot of us, it’s simply about unlocking the remaining cosmetic rewards before moving on and waiting for the next expansion. Unfortunately, this season has felt fairly underwhelming overall, which makes efficiency even more important.

Bloody Nightmare Dungeons Are the Best Farm

After trying multiple activities, Bloody Nightmare Dungeons consistently provided the best return of Dark Cage currency.

The currency mainly drops from:

  • Elite enemies
  • Blue and yellow mobs
  • Bosses
  • Other high-density encounters

The key is speed and consistency. Bloody Nightmare Dungeons offer a steady stream of enemies and elites, making them far more reliable than some of the other seasonal activities.

Why Lower Difficulty Can Actually Be Faster

One important detail is difficulty selection. Instead of running the highest possible torment tier, it can actually be more efficient to farm on a lower difficulty if it dramatically increases your clear speed.

In this case, Torment 2 turned out to be the sweet spot because enemies could be one-shot almost instantly. While higher difficulties may reward slightly more currency per run, the extra time required often makes them less efficient overall.

The ideal farming setup is:

  • A difficulty where you instantly delete enemies
  • Fast dungeon clears
  • Minimal downtime
  • High elite density

If you can comfortably clear a higher torment level at the same speed, then it’s worth increasing the difficulty. Otherwise, speed farming remains the better option.

Other Farming Methods Felt Inconsistent

Several alternative methods were tested throughout the season, but none matched the consistency of Bloody Nightmare Dungeons.

Helltides

Helltides occasionally produced decent currency drops, but the results were wildly inconsistent. Sometimes you would earn a decent amount quickly, while other stretches would produce almost nothing at all.

Lair Bosses

Running Lair Bosses also turned out to be disappointing. Even after completing around ten boss runs in a row, the total reward was surprisingly low — only around five or six currency drops overall.

Compared to those methods, Bloody Nightmare Dungeons simply offered the most stable and repeatable results.

Build Choice Matters for Farming Speed

For farming efficiency, survivability and flashy mechanics matter less than raw clear speed.

The build being used here was a Paladin setup focused on Shield of Judgment. Another variation — a “Captain America” style shield-throwing build — was tested as well because it was more entertaining to play. However, despite being fun, it dealt noticeably less damage with the same gear and Paragon progression.

At this point in the season, efficiency wins. The goal becomes:

  • Clear fast
  • Kill everything instantly
  • Collect cosmetics
  • Move on

That mindset heavily influences build selection.

A Season That Felt Like Filler

Part of the frustration comes from the feeling that this season exists mainly as a bridge toward the next major expansion. While the seasonal theme involving the Butcher had some nostalgic appeal, it didn’t feel substantial enough to carry the entire season.

For longtime fans of the franchise, the Butcher is iconic. He was the terrifying first major boss players encountered back in the original Diablo, so seeing him featured again naturally creates excitement.

The concept itself was cool:

  • Transforming into the Butcher
  • Butcher-themed mechanics
  • New seasonal flavor

But in practice, many players expected more depth and more meaningful gameplay additions.

Looking Ahead to the Expansion

Despite the disappointment surrounding the current season, there’s still plenty of anticipation for the upcoming expansion. Blizzard appears to be focusing much of its attention there, and many players are already looking forward to the new class and content arriving soon.

For now, though, if your only objective is maximizing Dark Cage currency before the season ends, Bloody Nightmare Dungeons remain the most efficient farming strategy available:

  1. Run lower torment if it improves clear speed
  2. Focus on elite-heavy dungeons
  3. Prioritize consistency over difficulty
  4. Speed farm until the cosmetics are unlocked

At this point in the season, efficiency is everything.
