007 First Light Patch 1.0.2 Released: Major Crash Fixes, Progression Improvements, and Bug Corrections

Developer IO Interactive has released Patch 1.0.2 for 007 First Light, delivering a substantial collection of fixes aimed at improving game stability, resolving progression blockers, correcting achievement issues, and eliminating numerous gameplay bugs across multiple chapters.

While this update does not introduce any new content, it addresses many of the most commonly reported problems players have encountered since launch, making it one of the game’s most important updates so far.

Major Stability Improvements

One of the primary focuses of Patch 1.0.2 is overall game stability.

Several crashes reported by players have now been resolved, including a critical issue that could occur when loading the Operations checkpoint during Chapter 2: A Night Out. For players who were unable to continue their playthrough because of this bug, the issue should now be fully fixed.

PC players also receive several important improvements. IO Interactive has addressed a common GPU-related crash tied to rendering and pipeline issues, one of the most frequently reported technical problems since launch. In addition, a separate crash caused by texture loading errors has also been eliminated.

PlayStation 5 users benefit from a fix for a crash that could occasionally occur during the opening cinematic of Chapter 0: Against the Odds.

Steam Achievement Fixes

The update also addresses achievement progression problems on Steam.

Some players reported that achievements were not unlocking despite meeting all requirements. According to the patch notes, achievements should now trigger correctly. However, the developers note that launching the game while connected online may still be necessary to validate achievement progress.

Progression Blockers Removed

Several mission-breaking issues that could prevent players from progressing have been fixed.

Chapter 8: Time to Die

A bug that allowed players to accidentally fall from the roof of the Emperor Suite and become unable to continue the mission has been corrected.

Chapter 3: All the Time in the World

Multiple progression-related fixes have been implemented:

  • A bug that could cause Bond to load outside the playable world after skipping the airfield cinematic at a specific moment has been fixed.
  • The airplane chase sequence has been corrected to prevent vehicles from becoming trapped between helicopter propellers and instantly failing the mission.
  • An issue that could leave Bond permanently stuck after the auction sequence has also been resolved.

Chapter 9: Wave of the Future

Several important fixes target mission progression and optional objectives.

Previously, players could accidentally break an optional shooting-range opportunity by destroying a spare android before it was deployed. Once triggered, the objective could not be completed. Patch 1.0.2 now prevents this situation from occurring.

The update also resolves a progression blocker involving the security office sequence. Players who saved, exited, and later reloaded after being escorted to the office could encounter a bug where a guard failed to continue his scripted behavior, permanently halting progression. This issue should no longer occur.

Combat and Animation Fixes

The patch addresses several unusual combat and animation problems throughout the campaign.

In Chapter 8, certain counterattacks against a story character could cause both characters to slide unnaturally through hallways or even float into the air. These animation glitches have now been fixed.

Another bug allowed thrown objects to knock a character through environmental geometry near specific rock formations, resulting in clipping and unpredictable behavior. This issue has also been corrected.

Chapter 10: For England

A particularly useful combat fix has been implemented during the opening phase of the boss encounter.

Previously, the red explosive pipes used during the fight could sometimes fail to detonate when struck with the missile pen gadget. They should now function correctly and explode as intended.

Visual and NPC Improvements

Several smaller but noticeable visual issues have also been resolved.

During the Malta training sequence in Chapter 1, the close-combat camera could occasionally zoom in too closely and fail to reset properly. The camera now behaves as intended.

In Chapter 4: The Past Never Dies, a floating market NPC could become suspended in mid-air while continuing its walking animation. This visual bug has been fixed.

Meanwhile, Chapter 8 contained an issue where a hostile NPC could become stuck walking in place near a doorway, preventing a cutscene from triggering correctly. The update resolves this behavior.

The developers have also corrected an audio bug that caused distracted NPCs to repeatedly trigger alert sounds and warning icons in rapid succession, creating excessive notification spam during stealth sections.

TACSIM Mode Fixes

The game’s TACSIM tactical simulation mode also receives a pair of improvements.

The first resolves an issue where an infinite loading icon could appear after pausing the game while using TACSIM, whether at MI6 headquarters or during missions.

The second addresses a bug involving flash mines. Players who equipped the size upgrade and then restarted a mission could find that flash mines stopped functioning entirely. The upgrade should now work correctly after mission restarts.

A Much-Needed Stability Update

Although Patch 1.0.2 does not add new missions, features, or content, it significantly improves the overall experience by addressing crashes, progression blockers, achievement issues, animation glitches, and gameplay bugs that have affected players since launch.

For anyone who has encountered technical issues while playing 007 First Light, downloading the latest update is highly recommended. The patch represents a major step toward improving stability and ensuring a smoother experience across all platforms.

As additional updates arrive, players can likely expect further refinements and quality-of-life improvements as IO Interactive continues supporting the game post-launch.
